Now if I said to you words such as 'Manga' or 'Anime', would you run for the nearest telephone and try to call me an ambulance? Or better yet, would you be like my mate Koji, and know and love what these two words really-really mean? So go on. Decide. Are you an ambulance caller? Or are you a Koji? Quick-Quick-Quick. The meter's running.
1) What are your own origins, Koji? Plus what path did you take in life prior to getting to where you are today? I'm originally from Osaka, Japan. Now I am living in New Zealand with my wife who I met there. Over the years I have lived in Rome, Georgia, and the United States, where I went in high school. And because of this experience I could speak English and had many English speaking friends when I was in Japan.
2) How did ‘Manga Anime Reviews’ come about? Plus what is your role within the scheme of things? A few English speaking people knows some Manga and Anime, but generally only big titles such as Dragon Ball, Pokemon, DeathNote, Naruto, Ghibli Movies, etc, etc, etc. Yet there are so much more than that out there in Japan. So my idea was to introduce to others good Manga / Anime, so everyone can enjoy more like I do. And hopefully I can talk about what I love with English speaking people more often.
About my role, first off I was pretending that Manga Anime Reviews is created by a team so that the site sounds more professional, Ha! But actually its done all by myself. So I do everything. I created the site, write the reviews, and post them on google+, facebook, and twitter.
3) In your opinion what would you say was the best manga / anime styled movie? Oh! This is a hard question to answer. There are so many different styled Manga / Anime it's difficult for me to choose the best. However, if I have to choose one then the answers would be..
Manga
Ongoing -- One Piece
Reason -- Best selling ever at moment
Completed -– Black Jack
Reason -- This is Osamu Tezuka’s landmark title. Counting on influence Osamu Tezuka made in its Industry.
Anime styled Movie
All Lupin the Third movies!!!! Because I simply looove this title!!
4) What song would you say best represents this site and why? The opening song of Lupin the Third.
5) During your time in this field, what is the one thing that has kept you in good stead? When I get good comments about what I do with this MAR.
6) If you could get a celebrity – either living or dead – to promote your site, who would you choose, and why would you want to choose this particular person? Leonard DiCaprio or Quentin Tarantino, because I know they like Japanese Manga & Anime.
7) What have you learnt about yourself through this endeavour? And were their any unforeseen obstacles you had to contend with along the way? I've learnt that there are so many more people in the world who love Japanese Manga and Anime than I thought there were. And even though I still think I know more about this subject than most of these people, some of them knows more than I do in a particular genre that I have yet to learn.
