If the weather can change the seasons, and the seasons can change the weather, why can't the weather and the seasons then go on to change us? But then again, maybe they can, just not in the way we might expect them to. Want to know more? Then please check out the following interview I did with my mate Nandor who wrote the four-part graphic novel...
Seasons on Amazon
1) What are your own origins, Nandor? I live in Jefferson City, Missouri, and I've loved reading and collecting comics ever since I was ten years old. I never really knew that my almost insatiable love for the medium would bring me to a career in it, especially since I first wanted to be an artist, not a writer. But alas, here we are, and I couldn't imagine it any other way. Also, just in case anyone was wondering, my name is Hungarian in origin. Although you couldn't tell I was Hungarian from meeting me, Ha!
3) In your own words, how would you describe this story? SEASONS is an original, creator-owned comic book drama for reader's who would like to be a part of a deep and serious one year journey that will challenge how they look at themselves, others, and the world around them.
The story of SEASONS revolves around Fletcher Hart Iiams, a misunderstood, average young man who isn’t happy with his life anymore and has run away from almost everything and everyone. The entirety of this series will span over one year of Fletcher’s life as SEASONS is planned to be four separate but interconnected stories that follow the seasons of the year.

2) What inspired you to create, ‘SEASONS’? I'd say that the comic book medium itself has inspired me the most. Well, seeing as how comics are released on a monthly basis, the idea of a "journey" following our favorite costumed characters really resonated with me. So that staple of the comic book world jump-started the idea of following one man through one year of his life. That's one main hook of SEASONS, as well as the idea that with each passing season, the main character, Fletcher, is given a new set of powers/abilities that help him along his personal changes and personal journey! Instead of having someone maintain the same powers, why not change it up a bit? That really got me excited in following through with the idea that became this series.

The title has a two-fold meaning: the seasons of the year and the “seasons” people go through throughout their lives. There will be four graphic novel stories — Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter — and each storyline deals with a combination of different obstacles, enemies, themes, and problematic situations the main character will have to face (all set in real time). Fletcher is also given a new set of powers with every seasonal transition; as the world changes, so does he and his abilities. It is an allegorical character study that's ultimately about finding a reason to live in this world which will drag you down with it if you let it.
4) What song would you say best represents this comic and why? Now the easy answer would have to be The Byrds song, "Turn! Turn! Turn!", seeing as the subject matter really hits home an essential part of the series. I would also like to choose the Blue October song, "Time Changes Everything", because it captures so much of what I'm going for with SEASONS.

5) If you could get a celebrity – either living or dead – to promote your wares, who would you choose, and why would you want to choose this particular person? Would George Lucas be a possible option? After all, a good word from the magic maker himself would go a very long way because he is who he is.
6) What have you learned about yourself through this endeavor? I've learned that I don't like the business and marketing side of promotion, Ha! Seriously though, as a creator/director/marketer, it's fairly difficult wearing so many hats and trying to keep track of everything.
A positive thing I've learned about myself is that I'm not afraid of sharing my work and being proud of it. I'm confident in what I do and I honestly don't know where that persistent confidence comes from. I'm just glad it's there to keep me going.
7) During your time in this field, what is the one thing that has kept you in good stead? To never lose sight of the end reward; which in this case means being able to share my very dear, personal story with anyone I can. Overall I have this aim with SEASONS so it can help those who may feel helpless or what someone may call, "down in the dumps." I've been there, and it's not a nice place to be in, so if I can get through and lift some spirits with my work, that's all I could ask for.
8) If ‘SEASONS’ had a motto, what would it be? Its current motto would be the dedication I made at the very opening pages of SEASONS Volume 1: Spring: "For all those who feel as though they'll never amount to anything. Don't ever give up on yourself."
And on that note, I'd like to thank Nandor for telling us about SEASONS, before directing you towards his official website, facebook, twitter, and instagram pages. And while you're at it, why don't you pick yourself up a copy via Amazon.
