GARAGE SALE / YARD SALE / CAR BOOT SALE - A COMIC BOOK WATCHLIST

The editor of SellMyComicBooks.com, Ashley Cotter-Cairns, has been good enough to highlight five different comic books we can buy cheaply and flip for a profit during the summer season. He's basically given us some useful tips and advice so we can boost our bank balances while trawling through yard sales or picking over Craigslist collections. So without any further ado, it's over to you, Ashley.

1) Iron Man #219 (1987)
What makes it so special: The 1st appearance of Ghost (soon to be appearing in Ant-Man and the Wasp).
What it’s worth: $10 to $80.

With the Ant-Man sequel hitting the theatres soon, I think it’s about time to cash in on this little gem that looks like nothing at all. More or less this is the kind of book that will appear at rummage events (given it’s from the late 80s), and it's from a popular series which had a large print run. So don’t sit on your hands and get the money out quick! 

2) Wonder Woman #72 (1993)
What makes it so special: It has a classic Brian Bolland cover image.
What it’s worth: $40 to $300 (!)

Yes, that's right! There's a book from 1993 that might be worth hundreds of bucks! It looks like a perfect hunter’s book to me, as it brandishes a patriotic cover with a shield and a well-endowed Diana posing beside it. Yes, definitely very popular among the fanboys. Bolland also drew the cover for Wonder Woman (Volume 2) #63, which is also a classic and quite expensive. 

3) 'New' X-Men #128 (2002)
What makes it so special: The 1st appearance of Fantomex.
What it’s worth: $10 to $60.

Fantomex is gaining traction and probably destined for a future movie treatment. So for a book that’s less than 20 years old, it should be pretty easy to find in unpicked collections at yard sales. #129 is the second appearance, which is worth about half the price, and you’ll probably get it for around 50c.

4) Avenging Spider-Man #9 (2012)
What makes it so special: The 1st Carol Danvers as Captain Marvel.
What it’s worth: $40 to $300 (!)

Since the end of Avengers: Infinity War, the Carol Danvers version of Captain Marvel has become the hottest property in the Marvel Universe. So much so, in fact, that her first appearance might fly under the radar if collectors who gave up in the past few years haven’t kept their fingers on the pulse. 

5) Batgirl #1 (2011)
What makes it so special: It has an Adam Hughes cover.
What it’s worth: $5 to $50.

Adam Hughes is a super-popular artist with the fans, especially when he draws sexy images of female heroes, both young or mature. Now a good example of this can be seen in Batgirl’s 2011 reboot (sporting a Hughes cover) because his work made this issue burn ever so brightly within the comic book arena. His work has dropped behind a few other hot artists in recent years, but it's still worth keeping your eyes peeled for.
