Look, up in the sky! Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, it's a sign directing us towards The Superman Museum, located in the city of Metropolis, Illinois! Want to know more? Then please check out the following interview I did with one of the owners of this museum, Morgan Siebert. Trust me, it's super stuff.
1) Please tell us a little bit about yourself, Morgan, including your involvement with the ‘Superman Museum’. My name is Morgan Siebert and I am the co-owner and one of the curators of the Superman Museum. For most of my life, the museum has been my whole world and I am so proud to be able to continue the legacy that my father started all those years ago.

2) What were the circumstances that led up to the formation of this museum? My father, Jim Hambrick, started collecting Superman comics and memorabilia at a fairly young age, and after a while, it kind of took off and became this huge-huge thing. In fact, it became so huge, he started becoming famous for his collection and even talked about it in numerous interviews and articles published in the press. Through this, he also got the chance to attend Superman movie premiers where he eventually met Kirk Alyn, who was the first actor to play Superman on TV, and together, they both hit the road with an early version of the museum. Well, that's until he found out about Metropolis, Illinois, which was where he decided to set up shop and make a more permanent Superman Museum.
3) What is your favorite Superman film, TV show, or cartoon? I would say my absolute favorite would most probably be the Max Fleischer series because they're so theatrical and way ahead of their time. In my opinion, if it wasn't for them, superhero cartoons wouldn't be what they are today.
4) Can you tell us about some of the items you have on display? We have over 70,000 items on display in our museum, including costume pieces and props from all the TV shows and movies, original artwork, animation cells, toy prototypes, and large statues. Heck, you name a product that has Superman on it, and we'll most definitely have it!
6) Do you commemorate any of the anniversaries associated with Superman, and if so, how? Sure we do! We like to celebrate Superman as much as possible, and we have a lot of fun with it in the process. For instance, this year we went to the annual event, Superman Celebration, held nearby, and celebrated the 40th anniversary of 'Superman The Movie', starring Christopher Reeve. We brought along with us many of the celebrity guests featured in the movie for autographs and Q&A sessions. It was also the 40th anniversary of the Superman Celebration, so we brought back a few events and celebrated some of our town Super-MEN to ask them what it was like to play Superman.
'The Superman Museum' is open from Monday to Sunday between the hours of 8am to 7pm. Now for further information please feel free to connect via their official website, facebook, twitter, and instagram pages. Go on, click on the links provided and have a super time.

5) What is your favorite piece and why? It's hard to pick a favorite piece, but I think I'll go with the brown and grey costume worn by George Reeves in the first season of the 'Adventures of Superman'.
