When Stan Lee, Larry Lieber, Don Heck, and Jack Kirby, created Iron Man in the early 1960s, they initially based his character on the American tycoon, Howard Hughes, because they wanted him to appear like a wealthy, eccentric, philanthropist, with a bold personality and a business-minded mentality. But in reality, would Iron Man's alter ego, Tony Stark, be a wealthy, eccentric, businessman? Or would he be something else? Something a little more grounded than his comic book counterpart!
Well, according to money.co.uk, the real Tony Stark wouldn't be like the real Howard Hughes. Not totally, anyway, as this particular version of Tony would be an ideal candidate for the robotics industry, rather than the weird and wonderful world of business and philanthropy, on account of his vast range of technical abilities. In fact, they'd go so far as to say that most of the characters presently populating the Marvel Universe would have slightly different occupations, but only because they created a mockup CV for each of the ten most popular characters (including their academic history, their career background, and their notable range of skills), before matching them up with a suitable job role based on the information they carefully compiled.
Here, check out the following infographic for their top ten list (which features each hero's rank, name, selected occupation, skill match, and average yearly salary), as well as the subsequent video that has to be seen to be believed.
So, what do you think of that, folks? What do you think of this list of fictional superheroes who've been assigned real jobs? Are you surprised that Doctor Strange came out on top? (In light of his chequered medical background) Or are you shocked to see Wolverine at the bottom of the list? (Considering he has the ability to heal himself and is a very good fighter) Either way, please feel free to leave your thoughts in the comment section below, and while you're at it, don't forget to check out money.co.uk to see what else they might have up their sleeve.
