Associated Trivia: It was once suggested that Anne Rice was inspired to partly base some of her characters on the French aristocracy (i.e., Lestat de Lioncourt) due to the ties her hometown (New Orleans) has with the French royal family. Well, New Orleans was named after the French Regent, Philippe II, a.k.a. the Duke of Orléans, and was founded in 1718 by French colonists.

But what he failed to mention, was that originally an Algonquian tribe (called, the 'Siwanoy') lived there, until they sold their land to a dubious merchant from Hampshire, England, for a minimal amount of goods and trinkets.
