Not so long ago, the team over at GAME.co.uk decided to conduct a study to find out which comic book character and franchise are the most popular around the world, specifically, those published by either DC or Marvel. In order to do this, though, they had to obtain and analyze the global Google search volumes for each of these comic book characters. Then once they did that, afterwards, they did the same thing for both of the aforementioned comic book publishers.
What now follows are the results of their study, nicely illustrated within three specific maps.

1) Thanos: 66 countries and 56.4% share in the study
2) Joker: 21 countries and 17.9% share in the study
3) Venom: 16 countries and 13.6% share in the study
4) Emplate: 11 countries and 9.6% share in the study
5) Ultron: 2 countries and 1.7% share in the study
6) Catwoman: 2 countries and 1.7% share in the study
7) Daken: 1 country and 0.8% share in the study

1) USA: 301,000 monthly searches
2) India: 110,000 monthly searches
3) Brazil: 110,000 monthly searches
4) UK: 90,500 monthly searches
5) France: 90,500 monthly searches

1) South Korea: 201,000 monthly searches
2) USA: 165,000 monthly searches
3) India: 110,000 monthly searches
4) Brazil: 60,500 monthly searches
5) Turkey: 60,500 monthly searches

1) Spider-Man: 57 countries and 48.7% share in the study
2) Wonder Woman: 15 countries and 12.8% share in the study
3) Batman: 11 countries and 9.2% share in the study
4) Iron Man: 10 countries and 8.5% share in the study
5) Superman: 6 countries and 5.1% share in the study
6) Captain America: 4 countries and 3.4% share in the study
7) Aquaman: 4 countries and 3.4% share in the study
8) Hulk: 3 countries and 2.5% share in the study
9) Wanda Maximoff: 2 countries and 1.7% share in the study
10) Groot: 1 country and 0.8% share in the study
