BLACK TAPE - MY INTERVIEW WITH DAN PANOSIAN

Black Tape - CoverLast week, AWA Studios kindly allowed me to share a few pages from their upcoming four-issue monthly comic book miniseries, 'Black Tape', which revolves around the mysterious death of a famous rock 'n roll musician named Jack King. But if you missed it, don't worry, because you can check it out by clicking here. Otherwise, you can just go with the flow and dive into the following Q and A with the author of the aforementioned miniseries, Dan Panosian.

Forbidden planet

Black Tape - 1
1) Name three words that best describe who you are.   I'm a writer, an artist, and a former gentleman. Well, life is too short, and you can always apologize tomorrow for having too much fun today.

2) What inspired you to create, 'Black Tape'?   I was primarily inspired by films from the horror genre that are mixed with aspects of a thriller. Add some Satanism, some Kung Fu, as well as the late 1960s, and what more inspiration could one ask for?

Black Tape - 2
3) In your own words, how would you describe this story?   For me, 'Black Tape' is a classic period horror story/thriller that's a little like two old-school movies, 'Rosemary's Baby' (1968) and 'Billy Jack' (1971). All that, plus a lot of rock 'n roll.

4) What song would you say best represents this miniseries and why?   To answer this question, I'd like to choose the Black Sabbath song, 'N.I.B.' (especially for issue #1), because in terms of the story I'm trying to tell it's pretty much on the nose... Lucifer falls in love.

Black Tape - 3
5) If you could get a celebrity – either living or dead – to promote your wares, who would you choose, and why would you want to choose this particular person?   I want to choose the English occultist, novelist, and painter, Aleister Crowley, to promote 'Black Tape' as I think he would do an excellent job of selling it as a film. Can anyone get a hold of his agent?

6) What's the one thing about 'Black Tape' that might surprise people?   One thing? Only one? Well, I'm hoping what leads up to the ending will surprise people as there are a lot of little clues that set it up, but it still takes a little digging to unravel where the actual 'Black Tape' is hidden and why.

'Black Tape' is a four-issue monthly comic book miniseries written by Dan Panosian, illustrated by Dalibor Talajić, and published by AWA Studios. The first issue will be released on the 1st of February, 2023, and it will cost $3.99. For further information, please feel free to check out the official Website, Instagram, and Twitter pages.
