About the author: Álvaro Ortiz is a cartoonist from Spain who studied graphic design at the Escuela Superior de Diseño de Aragón and illustration at the Escola Massana. He's also written and illustrated several popular graphic novels in Spanish, such as 'Murderabilia' (2014), 'Rituales' (2015), and 'Viajes' (2016), as well as created a couple of webcomics during the COVID-19 pandemic. 'Ashes' is his first book in English, and in my opinion, it's definitely worth reading.
