Attic Door Media is planning to release an ongoing comic book series about a futuristic society on the brink of falling apart. Their series is called, 'MythFall', and it's written by Cici Affini, illustrated by Allie Preswick, and colored by Eren Enrica Angiolini. Recently, I had the good fortune to speak with the author of 'MythFall', Cici, who was kind enough to respond to the following Q and A. Please enjoy.
1) Name three words that best describe who you are. I'd say, thoughtful, persevering, and uncool.
2) What inspired you to create, 'MythFall'? In an early version of the script, my story was about a multiverse and a boy who cried. But after a while, I decided to ditch the multiverse in favor of a galactic federation. I kept the boy, though, as I was intrigued by the idea of a boy who cried easily and didn't feel any shame about it. He cries in issue #1.
3) In your own words, how would you describe this story? 'MythFall' is a fantasy epic set in space, which revolves around a disgruntled bureaucrat named Malkan Terasmas who tries to stop a war from breaking out on his planet.
4) What song would you say best represents this comic book series and why? Well, for issue #1, I'd like to select the song 'Pompeii' by Bastille, but only because things get a bit explosive during the aforementioned issue. If we hit our stretch goals, I plan to release a Spotify playlist to accompany 'MythFall'.
5) If you could get a celebrity - either living or dead - to promote your wares, who would you choose, and why would you want to choose this particular person? To answer this question, I'm going to choose the American actor, Edward James Olmos, as he's got strong Malkan energy and bona fide sci-fi chops!
6) What's the one thing about this comic that might surprise people? The setting, because 'MythFall' takes place in a sci-fi setting roughly 150 years in the future, but it's built on history based on fantasy lore. Well, when Allie and I started to develop our story, we worked really hard to blend these two elements together, sci-fi and fantasy, and we did it in a way that readers might find surprising, both on a visual and a narrative level.
And on that note, I'd like to thank Cici for telling us about her upcoming comic book series, 'MythFall', before encouraging you to check out the official Website, Instagram, and Twitter pages for Attic Door Media. Or if you prefer, you can back this book on Kickstarter.
