X-MEN ORIGINS: JUBILEE - A FAN FILM BY A TRUE FAN

In May, 1989, the mutant known as Jubilation Lee, or Jubilee for short, made her first appearance in the Marvel comic book, 'The Uncanny X-Men' #244. Since then, she's also appeared in video games, animated TV shows, a couple of movies, and now, thanks to the filmmaker, Joshua Thomas, a fan film co-starring another member of the X-Men. 1) Name three words that best describe who you are.   I'd say, ambitious, visionary, and dreamer.

2) What inspired you to create your fan film, 'X-Men Origins: Jubilee'?   I was inspired to create this fan film because I just love the 90s TV show, 'X-Men: The Animated Series', as well as our titular character, Jubilee. Well, she's always been one of my favorite superheroes and I feel that she hasn't been depicted properly on the big screen. So, I wanted to begin our version of the X-Verse with Jubilee (click here to find out more) in order to highlight her brave and sassy attitude.

3) In your own words, how would you describe this story?   This is the story of a young woman who discovers her inner ability to shine and be seen for all that she truly is. Along the way, she encounters some danger, some real danger, but she's not alone, as a new budding friendship emerges at the exact right moment.

4) What song would you say best represents this film and why?   To answer this question, I'd like to select a song by the artist, BAER, called, 'The Most'. Not only because we used it in our opening scene when Jubilee is about to enter the bodega, but this song also seems like a good representation of a strong, confident woman who can create her own way in the world, especially with lyrics such as, 'Mastermind, creator of this high vibe energy'.

5) If you could get a celebrity - either living or dead - to promote your wares, who would you choose, and why would you want to choose this particular person?   I would like to choose the actor, Keanu Reeves, as he appears to be a trustworthy, down-to-earth individual, who a lot of people respect.

6) What's the one thing about this fan film that might surprise people?   Well, we shot this film in five hours (with no rehearsal), and our crew only consisted of three people (myself included). That said, however, it is an entertaining film, and we all feel that the storyline is there, the action is there, and the respect for the source material is there too.
