Tikal National Park, Guatemala
(Fourth moon of Yavin)
Aside from its connection to Star Wars, Tikal National Park is best known for being one of the main sites of Mayan civilization, which was inhabited from the 6th century BC to the 10th century AD. It's located in Northern Guatemala's Petén province and comprises 57,600 hectares of wetlands, savannah, tropical broadleaf, and palm forests, along with thousands of architectural and artistic remains belonging to the Mayan civilization.
Cardington Airship Hangars, Bedfordshire, England, UK
(Yavin 4 rebel base)
The Cardington Airship Hangars were built during the First World War for airship construction, and since then, they've been featured in a number of famous films. This includes all three of Christopher Nolan's Batman films, the 1968 adaptation of the Ian Fleming classic, 'Chitty Chitty Bang Bang', three films in the Star Wars franchise, and many, many more.
Ajim, Djerba, Tunisia
(Mos Eisley, Tatooine)
Ajim is a small port located on the island of Djerba, Tunisia, which is largely known for its fishing, its tourism, and its ferry that transports people to Tunisia's mainland in about twenty minutes. Ajim is also known for its connection to 'A New Hope', because a few of its streets were changed and used as the backdrop for the Mos Eisley sequences, including the exterior of Chalmun's spaceport cantina.
Death Valley National Park, California, USA
(Tatooine scenes)
Even though most of Tatooine was filmed in Tunisia, some scenes featuring the aforementioned planet were shot in Death Valley National Park, California, most notably, between Sierra Nevada and the Mojave Desert. This film location can also be seen in 'Episode VI - Return of the Jedi', mainly at the beginning of the film when C-3PO and R2-D2 travel to Jabba's palace.
