The New Zealand Mint has released a series of specially designed silver coins that resemble classic comic book covers published by DC Comics. Each coin in the collection, aptly titled, the COMIX™ collection, is made from 1oz pure silver and crafted into a rectangular shape that's colored on the front and all four sides. On the back of each one is an engraved emblem that confirms the coin as legal tender, and they're all individually housed inside a custom-designed gift box with a large window on the front for an easy display. Printed on the back of each box can be found a Certificate of Authenticity as well as the coin's specifications and unique number (in the limited mintage of 5,000). Some of the classic covers in the COMIX™ collection include...
Detective Comics #27: It was released in May 1939 and is known for being Batman's comic book debut.
Batman #1: It was released in March 1940 and is known for being Batman's first dedicated solo title as well as the comic book debut for both the Joker and Catwoman.
Superman #1: It was released in June 1939 and is known for being Superman's first dedicated solo title.
Showcase #4: It was released in October 1956 and is known for being the comic book debut for Barry Allen (The Silver Age Flash), Iris West, Turtle Man, and Central City.
All-American Comics #16: It was released in July 1940 and is known for being Alan Scott's comic book debut (The Golden Age Green Lantern).
All-Star Comics #8: It was released in January 1942 and is known for being Wonder Woman's comic book debut.
