In June, 1975, Universal Pictures released a fantastic film about a great white shark that terrorizes the people living in a resort town off the coast of America. Entitled, 'Jaws', it was directed by the well-known filmmaker, Steven Spielberg, and stars Roy Scheider, Robert Shaw, and Richard Dreyfuss. Today, we're going to take a look at some of the locations featured in the aforementioned film, which includes an interactive map for each one. Please enjoy.

Joseph Sylvia State Beach, Martha's Vineyard, Massachusetts, USA
(Beach Party)
When the film begins, we're introduced to the fictitious American town, Amity Island, as well as a pretty blonde girl called Chrissie (as played by Susan Backlinie) who's attending a party set on a beach. After a while, she decides to briefly step away from the party so she can go for a late-night swim in the sea nearby. But in doing so, she's suddenly attacked and killed by a great white shark, which results in her lifeless body being discovered the next day. In reality, this beach is over 2 miles long, and depending on the weather, it's a great spot for fishing and other fun activities.
Sengekontacket Pond, Martha's Vineyard, Massachusetts, USA
(The Pond)
Following the news of Chrissie's death, the newly hired police chief, Martin Brody (as played by Roy Scheider), sets his sights on capturing the shark that killed her, especially when it then kills more people, such as a man (as played by Ted Grossman) paddling his boat in a pond. In real life, this pond covers an area of 726 acres and has an average depth of 3 feet. It can also be seen in the 1978 sequel, 'Jaws 2'.
Menemsha, Martha's Vineyard, Massachusetts, USA
(Quint's Seaside Shack)
Realizing that he can't stop the murderous shark on his own, Martin decides to recruit two experts to aid him in his quest. The first expert he recruits is an eager marine biologist named Matt Hooper (as played by Richard Dreyfuss), whereas the second one is an eccentric shark hunter named Quint (as played by Robert Shaw). Martin and Matt first approach Quint at his seaside shack, which was specifically constructed for the film and torn down soon after production. Nowadays, the area where Quint's shack was once located is mostly populated by families connected with the fishing industry.
Oak Bluffs, Martha's Vineyard, Massachusetts, USA
(The Sea Adjoining Amity Island)
At the end of the film, Martin, Matt, and Quint all get in Quint's boat, named the Orca, and together, they sail the seas in order to track down and finally kill the titular shark. The area where they eventually locate the shark is obviously somewhere in the sea. But what isn't so obvious, is that this area can also be seen in the previously mentioned 1978 sequel, 'Jaws 2', the 1984 drama, 'The Bostonians', and in an episode of the TV series, 'Home Again with Bob Vila'.
So, there you have it, folks, four film locations featured in the 1975 classic, 'Jaws'. More articles featuring famous film locations will be coming soon, but before then, please feel free to leave your thoughts in the comment section below.
