THE FOLIO SOCIETY IS PROUD TO PRESENT DC COMICS: THE GOLDEN AGE (1938-1956)

The Folio Society has released a collection of Golden Age comic books originally published by DC Comics or a company they have since purchased. All of the comics included in this collection, aptly titled, 'DC Comics: The Golden Age', were selected by the former DC editor-in-chief, Jenette Kahn, who also wrote the introduction. The comics she selected are as follows.

A complete 68-page replica of the world's very first superhero comic book, Action Comics #1, which has a cover date of June 1938 and marks Superman's comic book debut.

A reprint of Detective Comics #27, which has a cover date of May 1939 and marks Batman's comic book debut.

A reprint of Whiz Comics #2, which has a cover date of February 1940 and marks Shazam's comic book debut (formerly known as Captain Marvel).

A reprint of All-Star Comics #8, which has a cover date of January 1942 and marks Wonder Woman's comic book debut.

This collection also comes with a number of other reproduced comic books initially published by DC Comics or a company they have since purchased. In the ascending order of each comic's cover date, this includes Superman #3 (December 1939), Flash Comics #1 (January 1940), Batman #1 (March 1940), Action Comics #23 (April 1940), All-American Comics #16 (July 1940), Police Comics #1 (August 1941), More Fun Comics #73 (November 1941), Sensation Comics #1 (January 1942), Plastic Man #5 (September 1946), Batman #42 (August 1947), All-Star Comics #37 (November 1947), Batman #44 (December 1947), Superman #53 (August 1948), and Sensation Comics #81 (September 1948).

DC Comics: The Golden Age is a 328-page collection that contains classic comic books and showcases the earliest incarnations of some of the world's most iconic superheroes, such as Aquaman, the Flash, and Green Lantern. Each comic in this collection was scanned directly from original copies held in the DC archives, and aside from the replica of Action Comics #1, they're presented inside an oversized hardcover book, which in turn is housed in a blue, yellow, and red clamshell case, emblazoned with the classic trinity of Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman. An exclusive art print illustrated by the award-winning artist, Yanick Paquette, has also been included in this collection, and it updates the classic montage featured in 1939's Superman #3.
